Even from a distance, you can see their passion, joy, and happiness to do what they love. And so, I pose these questions to you; What are you passionate about? What brings you joy and happiness?
Why Did I Create ExitBig?
I started ExitBig over six years ago, as I was having a bit of a mid-life crisis you might say. I was running a successful company and from all appearances, things were going great. But I wasn’t waking up with passion. I didn’t love what I was doing. I thought of my dad working at the same job for 49 years, with a dedication that I am forever grateful for. But I knew that to follow my passion, I needed to do something different. I wanted to do something where I could use my best talents - my people skills, my emotional intelligence, my business acumen, and really make a difference in the lives of business owners and entrepreneurs. And that is how ExitBig started – with passion.
Our Core Values Create a Better Buying or Selling Experience
Passion is our number one core value and the one most personal to me. I have the honor of doing work I am passionate about. As Van Deeb stated in our first Podcast, “The more passionate you are, the better the experience you are going to give to your clients.” At ExitBig, our mission is to deliver exceptional experiences to clients buying or selling a business, and we would not be able to accomplish this if it were not for our passion. These are stressful and complicated transactions. We want to be there to walk our clients through it every step of the way. When I meet with a client for the first time, I understand the gravity of the decisions that are being made. These are people who have worked hard their whole lives to build a successful business. For some owners, their business is not just part of their retirement plan; it is their retirement plan. And I am super passionate about giving our clients the exit they deserve.
Without Passion, There is no ExitBig
Most people would be able to tell you if they are passionate about their job or not. Passion is something that comes naturally, like the children playing in that field, fueled by their passion to play and the pure joy that it gives them. Does your passion for what you do get you up in the morning, even before your alarm? If not, ask yourself why you are not experiencing passion daily and what you are going to do about it. It is not easy to make a big decision, especially when so much is at stake in the direction you decide to go. Following your passion can mean taking a risk, sometimes a significant risk, and for many, the stakes might be too high. When it came time for me to take a hard look at my life and where I was going with my career, I asked myself what I was going to do. And I knew the answer in my heart, and I knew that I had to do something different. If I had waited to follow my passion six years ago, I would never have started ExitBig. If I had sat around thinking about it, I never would have done it.
So that is my challenge to you, if you are not experiencing passion every day, what are you going to do about it?
